Blogs are quickly becoming a legitimate business. Before you scoff at this statement, let me make two observations:
1.) No longer are blogs just considered “diaries”, or a collection of random thoughts that only the author really cares about. While these kinds of blogs do exist, there is a rising number of blogs that are aimed at a specific niche and provide informative articles that are well targeted for their audience.
2.) More and more bloggers are learning how to profit from their blogs. It doesn’t have to be a million dollars, but it can make a significant difference. Some ethically, some unethically, but that is the nature of any business.

Reality Television. It seems like you can’t change the channel these days without running into a reality tv show. American Idol, Survivor, The Surreal Life, they run rampant on almost every channel. The problem is that only a handful of these shows are on a topic that I even remotely care about, making their existence more annoying than anything. However, by skipping the medium of television entirely, I’ve found a reality series that is both entertaining and on a subject that I’m very interested. This reality show is called RockStartup.

PayPerPost (one way you can grow blog traffic) is at again, this time promising some big news that will be released in the next few weeks. The question is: What could it be? A new mind control device? The answer to cold fusion? Perhaps a new race of super beings that are the next step in human evolution? Who knows, however I do have my own theory which I shall now subject you too: I think they are expanding their network. This is a little vague, but I think they could do it in one of the following ways:

As you may know, I’ve started trying out PayPerPost, a new blog marketing service. One of my main questions going into it was: How profitable is this going to be for me? It takes a good amount of time for me to write a post on average, and my standards are pretty high for which opps I’ll take from PPP. Based on these two facts, I was concerned about how much return I could get from the program. My starting out goal was to average $10.00 a day. So how did it turn out so far?

I wrote an earlier post about the new program I’m trying, PayPerPost (a blog marketing network), and they’ve just released a new feature which I think is pretty interesting. Basically, I can add a link at the end of any of my posts (sponsored and non-sponsored) that allows someone to review my post via PayPerPost. Once this person signs up, they get an immediate opportunity that allows them to review my post on their site and then they earn a commission. I earn the same commission once their post gets approved. I find this system particularly interesting because it means that you don’t necessarily have to take commission in order to make money via PayPerPost. Also, it builds links to your site which is a nice bonus feature.

You may have noticed that some of my posts lately have had “This is a sponsored post” at the end of them. This is because I’m trying out a new system called PayPerPost, a company that specializes in blog marketing. At PayPerPost, advertisers pay bloggers to write about a certain topic. However, the bloggers have complete control over whether or not they want to take on a commission from an advertiser, and full disclosure is required by PayPerPost on these posts (In my case, “This is a sponsored post.”). The commissions are pretty good, as they only charge a small service fee compared to other similar sites. In fact, if you have a high traffic blog you can earn some serious commissions (I’ve seen some for $50 or more, up to a $1,000). Even if you don’t have a high traffic site, you can still earn some nice commissions.
I like this system because it allows me to keep the integrity of my site intact. For example, some advertisers specify that they want a positive review. Personally, I don’t agree with that so I only take commissions where I can be completely objective about the subject matter and I always check out the site first before I write about it. This has worked out well for me. Also, it has allowed me to remove the Google ads from the individual posts, which is a nice bonus.
Overall, it’s working out great for me, I’ll keep you posted as time goes on.
