Tip of the Day 7/5/06 - Three Ways To Get Rid Of Writer’s Block
July 5th, 2006
Are you pounding your head against the wall trying to figure out what your next sentence should be? Are most of your pencils broken in half (even if you aren’t using them)? If this sounds familiar, then you are probably experiencing Writer’s Block. Be it something you’re writing for work or that short story you’ve been trying to finish, it’s always frustrating running into this particular beast.
How do you get through it? Here are three ways that I use to get through a Writer’s block (at least until I get to the next one):
- Work on something else completely different - I find that when I’m working something I end up getting ideas for other projects, this applies here.
- Take a break- Even if it’s to the water cooler, clear your mind for a few.
- Get another perspective - Not sure how to proceed? Ask someone else for their advice. A new perspective can bring things to light that you might not have thought of.
These work for me, what works for you? Let me know in the comments section below.
