  Wednesday Morning Humor

July 10th, 2007

Ah Wednesday. Possibly the worst day of the week, as I’ve previously documented in this article: Think Mondays are Bad? Wednesdays are Worse. In keeping with this train of thought, here’s a little something to brighten up your day:

Creepy bathroom hand soap

Let’s just say if I saw this in the bathroom, I might just take my chances with the water.

Happy Wednesday!

  The Painful Truth

July 6th, 2007

I came across this humorous resume on Reddit, and I thought it was a good Friday laugh for everybody. I especially like the reference to the Excel spreadsheets, as that is so damn true sometimes.

Happy Friday!

Oh, I don’t own a house. Is that a problem?

June 7th, 2007

On average, I probably get two to three calls a day inquiring if I want to refinance my mortgage. informs that they’ve already pre-qualified me for a great deal on a refinance, all I have to do is call! Sometimes, I’ll even get a “personal” message from Cindy, John, Joe, or Bucky letting me know about this deal, since we talked about it the other day at happy hour. The only problem with this fantabulous (really, neither fantastic nor fabulous fully express my excitement) deal is the simple fact that all of the above information is bunk.

Do You Listen to Side Effect Warnings?

March 28th, 2007

At work this morning, my allergies were acting up so I decided to take some nose spray that I had at my desk. However, as I pulled it out of the box I read the side effect warnings for the first time. I could not believe some of the problems that were described. Allof them sounded worse than the actual problem I was taking the nose spray for. This led me to thinking: How often do we actually pay attention to side effects warnings?

  Your Longest Appointment Reminder

March 12th, 2007

I don’t know about you, but I use my Outlook calendar to remind me of any number of things, not just work meetings and deadlines. For example, if I have a dentist appointment scheduled during normal working hours, I’ll put an appointment reminder on my calendar for 4:00 PM the day before. That way, right before I leave it will remind me of that appointment the next day. However, I also use it for tasks that I need to do but that I tend to put off. I’ll set it up to remind me every X amount of hours so that I’m constantly bothered to get it done. This cuts down on my procrastination time, but that doesn’t mean it still doesn’t take me a while to get it done. A great example of this is an upcoming airline reservation I have.

How to Exercise at the Car Wash

March 4th, 2007

Here’s a little car wash humor to cap off your Sunday (at my expense of course):

We had just gotten back from a ski trip in North Carolina, and our car was pretty filthy. Of course, my wife couldn’t leave the car in this condition for more than 30 seconds, let alone the next day, so on the way back we stopped at an auto-wash near our apartment. It’s also worthwhile to note two things here:

My Top 5 Worst Breakroom Smells

February 13th, 2007

The breakroom is the social center of the office. Some of the most important things in the office reside there, such as: the microwave, the refrigerator, the snack machine, the TV, and the soda machine to name a few. However, because of this, there is one serious downside: The smells. Yes, most of us are familiar with the various awful smells that can inhabit the breakroom, but which ones are the worst? Here are my top five:

  Becoming your own Baggage Handler

December 29th, 2006

Fresh back from the holidays and boy, do I have a story for you.

This year we spent Christmas with the in-laws in Memphis. Naturally, we had to fly there (since it’s about a 15 hour drive from DC). The problem with this is that Northwest is pretty much the major carrier that flies into Memphis (it’s a pretty small airport aside from the enormous FedEx traffic). US Air and Delta also fly in, but have a much more limited flight selection. I’m not a huge fan of Northwest, but I thought “What the heck, how bad could it be?” (insert hindsight forehead slapping here).

  Wallet Hijinks

December 7th, 2006

When you think of a wallet, what are some uses that come to mind? Storing credit cards? Money? Maybe keeping some pictures in there? These are all common uses, however I have a new one to suggest: Projector stand. Yeah, it sounds crazy, but it happened to me today.

Bathroom Quirks that Drive You Crazy

November 9th, 2006

In the bathroom as we’re both “hard at work”….

Random work guy: “Hey, how’s it going?”
Me: “…..good…”
Random work guy: “Yeah, so, what a day, huh? Pretty busy.”
Me: “…yeah…”
Random work guy: “So what are you doing this weekend?”
Me: *sigh*
