I wrote an earlier post about the new program I’m trying, PayPerPost (a blog marketing network), and they’ve just released a new feature which I think is pretty interesting. Basically, I can add a link at the end of any of my posts (sponsored and non-sponsored) that allows someone to review my post via PayPerPost. Once this person signs up, they get an immediate opportunity that allows them to review my post on their site and then they earn a commission. I earn the same commission once their post gets approved. I find this system particularly interesting because it means that you don’t necessarily have to take commission in order to make money via PayPerPost. Also, it builds links to your site which is a nice bonus feature.

Music can be a great way to keep focus on your work while still being entertained in the background. However, usually it isn’t a good idea to blast your favorite techno tune from your computer speakers, as I’m sure not everybody in your office appreciates your taste in music. The solution to this is simple: Streaming music through headphones. The program I use and recommend is LAUNCHcast from Yahoo!. There are a number of reasons for this, they are listed below:

You may have noticed that some of my posts lately have had “This is a sponsored post” at the end of them. This is because I’m trying out a new system called PayPerPost, a company that specializes in blog marketing. At PayPerPost, advertisers pay bloggers to write about a certain topic. However, the bloggers have complete control over whether or not they want to take on a commission from an advertiser, and full disclosure is required by PayPerPost on these posts (In my case, “This is a sponsored post.”). The commissions are pretty good, as they only charge a small service fee compared to other similar sites. In fact, if you have a high traffic blog you can earn some serious commissions (I’ve seen some for $50 or more, up to a $1,000). Even if you don’t have a high traffic site, you can still earn some nice commissions.
I like this system because it allows me to keep the integrity of my site intact. For example, some advertisers specify that they want a positive review. Personally, I don’t agree with that so I only take commissions where I can be completely objective about the subject matter and I always check out the site first before I write about it. This has worked out well for me. Also, it has allowed me to remove the Google ads from the individual posts, which is a nice bonus.
Overall, it’s working out great for me, I’ll keep you posted as time goes on.

I’ll start this off with the following statement: I’m addicted to Best Buy. Even if I’m shopping for something else, if there’s a Best Buy in the area I’ll usually stop by “just to take a look”. This usually translates into me buying something, even if I don’t really need it. Unfortunately, this habit can get a bit pricey. That’s why I was happy to find Coupon Chief. Currently they have around 40 best buy coupons and other discounts. They also have coupons and discounts for Dell, which is another favorite brand of mine.
Give them a shot, it never hurts to check to see if you can save yourself a little cash here and there before you make that purchase (your wallet and spouse will thank you).

While the east coast has been going through an unusually warm winter, I just know that it won’t last forever. That’s why I was glad to find this article on 6 Ways To Shrink Your Heating Bill (thanks to LinkTipIdea for the tip). One thing I would add to this list is that contrary to popular belief, you can wear a long sleeved shirt or sweatshirt in your house. I’m not saying you have to freeze to save a few bucks, but if you can throw on a sweatshirt and be comfortable, go for it.

Yes, it’s true, I’m bringing the Tip of the Day back from the grave. After a few months of hiatus, I’m going to start trying to post a new one everyday. I can’t guarantee it, but I’ll give it my best shot. With that being said, here’s today tip:
If you’re like me, then you crave your daily dose of caffeine in the morning, every morning. However, I’ve noticed that on Mondays, the Safeway that I go to restocks their soda right before I usually go down there. This is no beuno simply because that means I have to drink warm soda, right? Not exactly. I’ve found that the sodas right in front of the registers usually are much colder than in the ones in the main fridge on Monday’s, probably because they weren’t rotated in and they’ve been there all weekend. So if you can, try to grab the ones near the register at the beginning of the week. At least take the time to do a comparison, as a warm soda in the morning can be worse than no soda at all.

If you need a break from that spreadsheet you’re working on, take a look at this blog by my friend Lawrence Tan: Slanteyes-Reflections. It’s basically some of his thoughts about his life and I think it’s pretty damn interesting. Definitely a good read, check it out.
