3 Reasons I Do Like Outsourcing
This is the second article in my series on Outsourcing. You can find the first article via this link: 3 Reasons I Don’t Like Outsourcing.
In this article, I’m going to discuss what I think are the pros of outsourcing. Without further ado, here they are:
1.) It creates jobs - If you take a look at the first article, my first point is that outsourcing takes away jobs from the local market. However, on the flip side of this point, it also creates jobs in the global market. Outsourcing has helped a number of economies that have traditionally had a hard time competing on a global scale to thrive. The best example of this that I can think of is the Indian economy, which is currently experiencing a boom similar to the dot com boom that took place in the US a little while back. This is largely due to the tremendous amount of technology outsourcing that is taking place there.
2.) Cost savings - This is a pretty obvious one, but the cost of outsourcing many kinds of work is much cheaper than doing it in house. By freeing up this money, proposing work to a potential client becomes much easier as you have a lot more room to come up with a competitive offer. Also, it provides more leeway in a financial sense if the schedule slips and you need extra time to meet your milestones.
3.) Experienced teams - One of the biggest advantages to outsourcing work in my opinion is that you have the ability to hire an experienced team. By having a skilled team that has already worked together in the past, you’re already ahead of schedule before you even start. This is particularly handy when you have a tight schedule and you need all the time you can get. Sure, you could create a brand new team, but then you have to ramp them up and get them to work together efficiently. This can be a long process, and cost time that you don’t have to spare.
It seems like Outsourcing may not be the big scary beast it looked like in the beginning. However, do the benefits outweigh the costs? This is what I’ll discuss in my final article in this series, make sure you tune in and find out what the verdict is.
