Packed and Ready to Go: But Where are We Going?
*Note: This specific review applies only to those readers in the UK, or who are looking to start a business in the UK.
Finding the right place to house your company can be a rough task. There are so many options out there, it’s hard to figure out where to begin. The paper? An agent? Word of mouth? With so many options to choose from, it may seem like finding a needle in a haystack. However, luckily for those in the UK, there’s an online service out there that provides some great tools to make your search that much easier: London Office Space.
To begin, I really like the site design, simply because…..it’s simple. On the left side you have all of the cities that you can choose to search in. On the right side, you have an interactive map that shows you where you’re looking based on your current city selection. Along the top are some simple links and a drop down box for alternative navigation. The “Contact Us” link is also easy to spot, which is a relief as they seem to be harder and harder to find on sites these days. Overall, the design is straight to the point of what you’re trying to do.
Once you select a city, the map changes to zoom in on the city you requested. The left hand side displays the available office locations. A rating for each space is displayed, although I couldn’t find an explanation of what this rating encompasses. This would be a perfect time to use the “Contact Us” link if you’re interested. From the listed properties you can do a number of things such as scheduling a viewing of the space and requesting a price quote. I like this a lot as these are two of the areas that can be a real pain to nail down when searching for any kind of new place. Also, you can view pictures of the space if available and show any one of the locations on the map. There is a lot more information shown for each property, definitely take a spin to find out more.
Another option is to search using the Tube map. This allows you to select a tube station from the map and then the office spaces that are close to that station are displayed. This might be my favorite feature on the site, because it is vitally important when buying any space in a city with public transportation. Living in DC, I can definitely see the advantage of this kind of search.
Overall, I really like this site. The only thing that I didn’t see was a FAQ page. With so much functionality included in the site, I think a FAQ page would be a great addition. Not only would this save on the emails to support, but would provided an easier experience to the user.
In case you missed it, here’s the link to the site: London Office Space.
