PostieCon 07 - The Rise of the Blogging Business
Blogs are quickly becoming a legitimate business. Before you scoff at this statement, let me make two observations:
1.) No longer are blogs just considered “diaries”, or a collection of random thoughts that only the author really cares about. While these kinds of blogs do exist, there is a rising number of blogs that are aimed at a specific niche and provide informative articles that are well targeted for their audience.
2.) More and more bloggers are learning how to profit from their blogs. It doesn’t have to be a million dollars, but it can make a significant difference. Some ethically, some unethically, but that is the nature of any business.
Because of the increasing number of business aspects that apply to blogging, bloggers are always on the lookout for ways to make their blogs better in general. Design, content creation, marketing, you name it, they’re researching it. With this in mind, methods that have been applied to other more traditional businesses have now started to show up in the blogosphere. Enter: PostieCon.
The business conference has long been a staple of almost every industry, and blogging is no exception. PostieCon is a blogging conference being held by the folks over at PayPerPost. Just like any other regular business convention, there will be speakers, focus meetings, and the chance to network with the surprisingly vast blogging community.
It’s a great chance for bloggers to hear from people who are currently considered a success in the blogosphere, such as Robert Scoble. Also as stated above, the importance of networking with other bloggers cannot be stressed enough. Networking in the blogosphere is one of the most important tools a blogger has to get their name known and to build high quality relationships. The money part? Yes, monetizing your blog is part of the convention too, but more importantly there will be talks on blog design and other topics that make your blog better.
Check out their site for yourself at PostieCon to see what they are planning for this big event.
