When you sign up for a new cell phone service, there’s usually an option to get a free phone in the deal. The popular belief is that these free phones are what can be generously referred to as “base models”. This was my impression as well until I checked out WireFly. They offer some great deals on some actual, honest to god, nice free cell phones. Here’s a few that I’ve found to be particularly good deals:

• Free black RAZR and bluetooth headset with new Cingular plan
• Free Motorola V325i and bluetooth headset with new Verizon plan
• Free LG chocolate with a new Verizon plan

Another nice feature that all three of the above deals come with free two day shipping from FedEx. Granted, some of these deals require rebates. However, this isn’t as much of a problem for me as it is for some people. When it comes down to it, if you are too lazy to take five minutes and mail in a rebate, then you probably don’t deserve to take advantage of the discount in the first place.

Also, looking at these deals you might discount the free bluetooth headset. Yeah, they can look a little odd and people will give you funny looks if you are “talking to yourself” in the mall, but they are incredibly useful. In fact, once you start using one, you won’t be able to stop (I’m still looking into a program for this). Trust me, adding these babies in just makes these deals that much sweeter.

Overall, WireFly looks like a great place to get a fantastic cell phone deal, definitely check it out if you’re in the market. I’m not in the market at the moment, but I will be next year so I’ll definitely check back to see what deals I can get my hands on.
