My Top 5 Worst Breakroom Smells
The breakroom is the social center of the office. Some of the most important things in the office reside there, such as: the microwave, the refrigerator, the snack machine, the TV, and the soda machine to name a few. However, because of this, there is one serious downside: The smells. Yes, most of us are familiar with the various awful smells that can inhabit the breakroom, but which ones are the worst? Here are my top five:
1.) Fish - I’m not talking about a light fishy odor, I’m talking about the full fledged fish market smell that makes you feel like your immersed in a tub of raw fish. Pleasant? I don’t think so.
2.) Indian Food - Because of all the spices and such used in Indian food, when heated up it can really pervade every crevice of the breakroom. This is especially rough for people like me who don’t even like Indian food.
3.) Nasty Sink - Not all breakrooms have one, but this occurs when you have a sink and somebody just dumps a bunch of food there and doesn’t clean it out. This is especially nasty if it’s someone who worked late and the food sits there all night.
4.) Burnt Popcorn - Microwave popcorn is great, but can turn bad quick if burned. Even worse is when someone burns a whole bag and the burnt smell just seems to hang there all day.
5.) Leftovers - Similar to the “Nasty Sink” smell above, this happens when someone leaves a tray of leftovers out and never comes back to clean it up. This gets real bad when the leftover food is kabobs or sandwiches with ham and such.
These are my top five, but there’s tons of other smells out there. What are your top five worst breakroom smells?
