Afternoon Read: Interesting Net Terms
Hmmmm…lunch time. Here’s some light fare to take your mind off of work:
The slang used today on the internet has now reached a point where it is wildly out of control. It seems like every other day there’s a new phrase or abbreviation invented. Keeping up with it is tough, especially in the area of SEO, or Search Engine Optimization. You might have heard that term thrown around a lot, it basically is what websites do to maximize their visibility to search engines such as Google and Yahoo. The right or wrong SEO can cause massive swings in your income, and because it is such an important field literally thousands of internet terms have been created for it.
A list of some of these terms is provided by Apogee Search, a company that specializes in search engine marketing. They have a free glossary that contains a good variety of these terms which can be found via this link:
Here are few interesting ones that I found:
Google Death Penalty
Google Bowling
Flog
While you may not own a website or be interested in SEO, it’s always good to try and read up on glossaries such as this just in case. You just never know when you’ll get hit with net slang these days.
